Sobre a água e o seu cíclo, sobre circularidade, sobre repetições e renovações. Sobre recomeçar e sobre fazê-lo atento aos pequenos detalhes. Ver o que nos passa ao lado, de quanto estamos a abrir mão, olhar mais perto, voltar a olhar, olhar melhor, ser mais atento; ao mundo, ao nosso mundo, à nossa àgua como berço de vida, como fonte de amanhãs, nascente de tantos futuros. Este projecto visa, falando da àgua, olhar em particular para a sua circularidade e para sua capacidade de se moldar, continuar o seu ciclo, persistir.
As referências visuais que aqui mostro servem de apoio para vermos da água o seu movimento, a sua dança livre e, a partir daí, aprender, com ela. A água é tudo, é parte de tudo, desce à terra, corre para os rios, dos rios para o mar e volta às nuvens em condensação. Brota-nos do corpo, viveu nos nossos avós.A água de hoje é a água de amanhã, o que com ela fazemos voltará para nós. Tratar da nossa água é tratar do nosso planeta, é tratarmos de nós. Com esta ideia - circular - o projecto é visualmente uma dança de água que desce em cascata e ao mesmo tempo regressa ao céu. É uma onda, é rebentação, enrola e bate e fica calma eregressa ao mar. É nascente onde bebemos; ser parte do ciclo.

About water and its cycle, about circularity, about repetitions and renewals. About beginning again, and doing so with attention to the smallest details. Seeing what passes us by, how much we let slip away, looking closer, looking again, looking better, being more attentive—to the world, to our world, to our water as the cradle of life, as a source of tomorrows, a spring of many futures. Water is everything; it is part of everything. It falls to the earth, runs to the rivers, from the rivers to the sea, and returns to the clouds in condensation. It flows from our bodies; it lived within our ancestors. The water of today is the water of tomorrow —what we do with it will return to us. Caring for our water is caring for our planet; it is caring for ourselves.
With this circular idea, the project is visually a dance of water cascading downward and at the same time returning to the sky. It is a wave, it is surf breaking and rolling, striking and calming, and returning to the sea. It is the spring from which we drink; to be part of the cycle.

Linhas desenham caminhos, são olhos, são labirinto, estão lá, nítidos, presentes mas perdidos são labirinto. São linha rossa mas tão longe, tão perto, estão longe.
Alinhavados mesclam-se; turbulento, sim turvo, um mundo que pouco vê; é distante, demasiado perto, pouco nítido, nada estanque. É gente a ser gente, rapidamente, nada vê.
Saber olhar por querer ver, ver, ver mais, querer ser perto, querer saber.
E nas linhas, alinhavadas linhas, umas tortas, umas finas, caminhar com os olhos, saber ler, sentir, olhos nos olhos, acudir.

Lines draw paths, they are eyes, they are labyrinth, they are there, clear, present, yet lost they are labyrinth. They are thick lines but so far, so near, they are far. Stitched together they blend; turbulent, yes murky, a world that barely sees; it is distant, too close, hardly clear, never still. It is people being people, hurriedly, seeing nothing.
To know how to look by wanting to see, to see, to see more, to want to be close, to want to know. And in the lines, stitched lines, some crooked, some fine, to walk with the eyes, to know how to read, to feel, eyes meeting eyes, to reach out.

o cair do fruto, o brotar da semente, cuidar até às primeiras folhas

aguentar as chuvas, romper o solo, ser rebento como asas de pássaro novo
querer ser gigante, querer ser colosso e saber ser sempre semente do um círculo longo
braços todos, tanto estendidos, qual montanha, qual volta que abraça a vida, devolve e é vida que dá.

Perceber que o mundo está em constante mudança é também compreender que todos somos de todos os lugares e há uma universalidade em nós inapagável. É com a ajuda das trilobites, pela camada sedimentar que ocupam, que podemos hoje perceber as movimentações e mudanças que o mundo sofreu durante e depois da sua existência. Até na fisionomia das trilobites conseguimos encontrar paralelismo com esta lógica uma vez que o seu corpo se divide em três lobos longitudinais e apresenta três divisões transversais. Vejo nesta soma de partes uma grelha, qual jogo do galo, qual puzzle. O trabalho que aqui proponho carrega esta lógica de jogo de peças que se movem num tabuleiro finito que é o mundo ou o pequeno edifício que aqui ocupo, com o pensamento de que, olhando e conhecendo as trilobites, podemos repensar-nos, podemos compreender a falibilidade da premissa que divide o mundo e os seres humanos em partes, em grupos, sectarismos que visam dividir para hierarquizar, mais do que unir e fortalecer.

To understand that the world is in constant change is also to recognize that we all belong to every place, and that there is within us an unerasable universality. It is with the help of trilobites, through the sedimentary layers they occupy, that we can today perceive the movements and transformations the world underwent during and after their existence. Even in the trilobites’ very form we can find a parallel to this logic, as their bodies are divided into three longitudinal lobes and three transverse sections. In this sum of parts, I see a grid—a kind of tic-tac-toe, a puzzle. The work I propose here carries this logic of a game, of pieces moving across a finite board that is the world, or the small building I now use.
“Partida” as in game, but also “Partida” as in departure— a beginning again, a restart, a rethinking of ourselves as a species. Today, more than ever, it is urgent that we think of ourselves as a whole: who we are, where we come from.
To seek knowledge and empathy so that we might finally understand that we come from the same place, and from all places at once.

Nesta casa mora uma pedra.
A casa dorme sobre ela.
Sobre ela dorme a cidade; sobre as grandes lapas de granito, os mais velhos gigantes daqui.
Pela pedra a cidade cresce e sobe a montanha que a rocha ergueu.
As velhas lapas fizeram a serra e a ela levam quem quer subir.
A cidade e as gentes por ela trepam. Sem quase a ver, é pela sua mão que chegam ao cimo, passo a passo, por baixo de si, carregam cada pé.
Pelas rochas chegamos ao topo, viajamos, galgamos os quase 2000 metros, zeppelin alado, balão de ar quente, a muralha que o céu ergueu.
E nada aqui seria, não fora a pedra que tudo carrega.
Imaginar que é pela rocha que chegamos ao topo é aceitar o mundo distópico em que uma rocha nos leva pelo ar. O trabalho que proponho sugere esse pensamento que é olharmos para algo que é tão pesado mas nos permite aos pés chegar tão alto; o pensamento que é olharmos para algo que tão facilmente esquecemos mas que é incontornável na realidade desta cidade, na sua fisionomia arquitectónica, na disposição geográfica das suas ruas e da sua organização urbanística. Falar da subida é enaltecer os antepassados que galgaram terreno à montanha mas também a aceitaram para si e para os seus filhos como uma troca entre suor e oportunidade, entre riqueza e muito trabalho. É enaltecer esta subida galgada à pedra que até os falares moldou. Do frio do alto vem o assobio de quem comunica sem expor a garganta ao gelo.
É um balanço com duas faces como aquele que aqui proponho imaginar; a gigante lapa com peso lã, a grande rocha como transporte até às nuvens.

In this house lives a stone. The house sleeps upon it. Upon it sleeps the city; upon the great granite slabs, the oldest giants here. Through the stone the city grows and climbs the mountain that the rock has raised.
The old slabs shaped the mountain range and guide those who wish to ascend. The city and its people climb because of it. Almost without seeing it, it is by its hand that they reach the top, step by step, beneath them, carrying every foot.
